Evo Power Pipes.

Folks! This is 'The Pipe Man'.

Chris Bosson is the wizzard who designed and manufactures all the Evo Powerpipes. They are all hand made. This means they are cut by hand, blown by hand, welded by hand and even packed by hand!!

I took these pics at one Friday Pit Bike race meeting. A real fun event for hard working folks like Chris who get together to have a blast and let off some steam at the end of the week. It really is family time too, as you can see in the pictures. Chris is not wheeling around a new style beer cooler but rather his 3 month old daughter as his wife is out on the track racing her Pit Bike!

Chris is also an Ex Zimbabwean and is a great friend of Mike Puzey's. They have known each other for ages. Chris does a bunch of work in the racing business in Cape Town. This is where he is best known. He does a bunch of custom work as well. A visit to his workshop is always extremely interesting as there are always new bikes there to have custom pipes designed, made and fitted. There are always bunches of race machines (2 and 4 wheeled) there too.

It is a cool little business that is run by Chris and his patient wife Marti.

Cool Friends. Vitego - Easy Glider

I got an e mail from my friend Harry Helnwein.

He has been having a heap of fun and has done a lot of hard work to get this product hopping. They managed to get a great slot on the Australian TV programme called 'Beyond Tomorrow'.
A clip is on their website. I have a link to it below. It takes a little while to load and it appears on the main page so click the link and stand by!

Now this is a fun little product that will do really well when the gas price rises. Sure, it is not in the 'sport scooter' category. I am telling you about it as it is a cool product and the folks behind it are real.

EVO - the 1300 mile monster machine!

Well I have these pictures from Jason Fischer at Coast Ped. Jason is the man called Magician by those that know what he is capable of. I think this name also works for folks who have heard about his work!

He has done a lot of riding and work to this Evo 2x. I think the record speaks for itself and so I will sign off with a few specs sent by Jason. I know that Mike Puzey will be the least surprised of all of us as he designed these machines to do much, MUCH more. Its just that the madman has got the stats to prove it!

Too late for the "1 000 mile machine"!

Folks! I have been getting ready to file a story about the '1 000 mile machine'. Looks like I missed the chance as it has done the 'lucky 13'. Yup 1300 miles! This is a machine that has been at the Magic Shop. Jason has ridden this Evo as hard as he can. He has tried most things with it to give it a 'work-over'. He has managed to 'work-over' relationships more easily than he has worked this machine! Why? Because he has continually pestered us for more. More of this, more of that, in his quest to do the R&D thing. Thanks man!

I have lifted this from his post over at SE which is linked to this blog. Jason writes:

"The picture is of my "Mobber" and yes same motor,it has not needed anything since the day it went together. This Evo2x is a longterm test scooter, based on this I will not release anymore photos until it apears on the Evo Blog. When the blog is up I or Nigel will post a link and then I will post larg pics here. But until then you guys will have to wait....sorry.

Some history of this scooter...I recieved this Evo2x with one goal, ride it into the ground, find out what if anything would could go bad. Part of the R&D process,is to gather as much real world information and process it to see if things need to change or if we can improve upon the allready near perfect design. Along with proving the mechanicals of the scooter, and its reliablity is to make it all of the things us Americans love....speed/looks and fuction. This is a testamint to Evo Powerboards and the designer Mike Puzey. 1300 miles and still counting...aside for standard upkeep,i.e.:lubing the cables, belt adjustments, occasional nut & bolt (checking the nuts and bolts to makes sure they stay tight). Belive it or not I am still running the "Stock" belt (belt it came with),and the tranny never gave me any hassle, however when the "new" tranny's arrived I was sure to put it through the daily grind and give it the seal of aproval. So used up around 10 Kenda 671 tires (2 fronts),and many gallons of fuel later here it is still running strong....."

Stand by for more pics!

Mike Puzey. Still Forming a passion!

There was a considerable amount of work done on the little fibre-glass race cars to get more out of them. Even at such a young age, Mike was handy with the spanners and screw drivers. The fun of cars was for school holidays as he went to boarding school when he was about 7.

The fact that he had to spend months at a time in a school environment did not limit his enthusiasm for machines. I was at the same school as him and I still remember this dude spending hours and hours, all on his own, in the middle of these huge school playing fields working on his model aircraft. In fact, the first radio controlled device I ever saw was one of Mike's. He made all sorts of weird and wonderful flying machines. This really got the building and design work going and it also was the beginning of the serious 'motorhead' ability.
