China
I had a Skype message session with Mike Puzey yesterday. He had just visited a factory in China that makes 16 000 (sixteen thousand!) motorbikes every day.
Do they care about what we think? Perhaps.
More importantly, we care about the output quality and the Bill of Materials and so on.
No crap products are going to cut it!
This Chinese manufacturing company has just bought the 100 year old Italian motorcycle company Binelli. They are clearly intent on welding their skills at mass production with the quality, elegance and acclaim of Italian motorcycle business.

Sheriff! thanks for the link to your forum. Great sign of acceptance- thanks!
Yea - China is an interesting dilemma for most of us in the manufacturing space. The real issue is to maintain our commitment to design excellence and quality. If we can do that then well and good.
The Bullet is Chinese and it is scary to see the rapid improvement in quality in the nearly 10 months that Mike has been working with them. It is far faster that we expected.
I guess that one of the reasosn for this blog is to have conversations like this with our Brand partners (the Evo owners and riders) to see what they want from their machines and where they stand on the price/quality debate. Clearly one wants to be the best AND the cheapets but this is not a realistic goal. We want to be the best and we want to be so damned price competitive too.
Just saw the link at Scooter Events - thanks for the opportunity to see what's going on in the Evo world!
